things happen

good morning. things happen around here, but then you have a 94 3/4 mom, 2 cats that dont' really care if the other eats or not, me and the innocent bystander..john.

so when mom decided to stay up for 30 hours straight I thought it was a good time to go thru the ' projects in process' drawer along with the ' stuff that didn't make it' drawer and added to that a box that had too much crackle ( so got stuck under the table) and a card that Sandy had given me says " messengers of dreams "..and whalla!!!

the nurse said sometimes the elderly, near the end, will stay up for 4 days straight..and then..well whatever. but after 30 hours mom decided she was tired of all this and went to sleep...awoke slowly the following day..until she was up with eyes open around 4pm..and reported that ' i was close to death'..(like we didn't know) .

meanwhile i took this can-van i had painted and didn't like and copied the card onto the center along with a post card on a separate sheet and used them for the inside of the box. found some orange ribbon and a buckle ( had to use this because the top kept sticking shut and needed something strong to pull the box open). the wooden angel ontop..well that was in the stack somewhere...and there we have one more project finished!

oh yeah and don't forget loeke, moms cat...hung in there the whole time so she got a treat!!!

GOOD MORNING. MONDAY!
WELL NO PICTURES YET OF OUR NEW ADDITION..FLAPJACK..BUT COMING SOON.
TOOK A QUICK TRIP TO THE PRISON IN DENVER TO ADOPT HIM BUT HE NEEDS MORE
TRAINING..ME TOO!!

IF YOU HAVE NOT HEARD OF THIS ..ITS A TRAINING PROGRAM WHERE THE DOGS LIVE IN THE CELLS WITH THE INMATES 24/7 AND COME OUT IN 8 WEEKS..BETTER TRAINED THEN ANY OTHER MEMBER OF YOUR FAMILY..POSSIBLY!!

MEANWHILE STOPPED IN AT THE RIBBON STORE NEAR MAIN AND LINDSEY. SEE THE PICTURES. SO NOW I HAVE DECIDED TO TAKE THE PAPER OR WHATEVER PROJECT THERE AND PICK OUT THE EXACT RIBBON RATHER THEN CREATE AN INVENTORY AND STILL NEVER HAVE THE ONE I WANT!

MOM IS NOT LAYING LOW EITHER...NO..NOT MOM. LAST NIGHT I ASKED HER IF SHE WOULD LIKE A COOKIE..SHE SAYS NO BUT I WOULD REALLY LIKE A CIGARETTE! CONSIDERING SHE NEVER SMOKED..YOU HAD TO BE THERE TO HEAR IT...JUST SO CASUAL....' I WOULD REALLY LIKE A CIGARETTE!

NOW OFF TO FIND MY PLEXI-GLASS BOOK. YES I REMEMBERED AFTER READING TRISH'S EMAIL THAT AT SOME POINT I DID BUY WHAT I THINK IS THE ONLY PLEXI-GLASS BOOK CREATED.AND ITS HERE SOMEWHERE! WHEN I FIND IT..I WILL LET YOU KNOW WHAT GLUE THEY SUGGEST!

cheers!

flower box

WELL FINISHED THE BOX...ALMOST.
NEED TO PUT THE PLEXI-GLASS ON TOP.
MY QUESTION IS..WHAT GLUE? REMEMBERING THAT THIS IS VERY VERY CLEAR PLEXI..SO ANY GLUE THAT IS NOT TOTALLY TRANSPARENT..WILL SHOW AND RUIN THE EFFECT...I WAS THINKING OF SOME GLUE SQUARES THAT MIGHT RAISE THE GLASS A BIT FOR EFFECT?

THE GREEN KNOB IS AN EARING I BROKE OFF THE BACK..
THE PURPLE FRONT ARE DOMINOES...HAD TO DO THIS BECAUSE THERE WAS A HOLE WHERE I PULLED OUT THE TAB FROM THE HANDLE ( THIS WAS A WOODEN PURSE)

EVEN THO I PUT RIBBON ETC OVER IT..IT WAS NEVER PERFECTLY SMOOTH SO HAD TO COVER IT.

I ALSO HAD NOT INTENDED TO USE SILVER AS THE ACCENT BUT THE FEET ARE...NEXT TIME I AM GOING TO TRY TO PAINT THE FEET GOLD...

I MADE THIS BOX TO EXPERIMENT WITH..I USED JUST PAPER ON THE TOP AND DID NOT FIRST COPY THE PAPER ONTO CAN-VAN..WHICH ALWAYS MAKES A SMOOTHER TOP..BUT KNOWING I WAS GOING TO PUT THE PLEXI-GLASS OVER..I DIDN'T THINK I NEEDED TO TRANSFER TO CAN-VAN....I AM ALSO GOING TO TRIM THE EDGES IN UTEE USING THE TECHNIQUE I USED LAST TIME...DUSTING CLEAR STAMP GLUE ON FIRST..THEN SPRINKLE ON THE UTEE THEN HOLD THE HEAT ABOUT 15 INCHES HIGH SO THE UTEE WON'T BLOW AWAY..AND PATIENTLY ( PROBABLY ONLY TIME I CAN PRACTICE THIS VIRTUE) ADD HEAT..AND ADD HEAT...AND SLOWLY ADD HEAT UNTIL IT MELTS IN LITTLE BUBBLES. GREAT EFFECT AND KEEPS EDGES FROM TEARING WITH USE.

SO NOW..I AM READY TO MAKE A PURSE/BOX WITH THE HAND MADE PAPER I PURCHASED AT PAPER STUDIO BEFORE THEY CLOSED FOR EVERYDAY SALES.
I WANTED TO TRY SOME IDEAS FIRST...

SO? PLEXI-GLASS ADHESIVE???
NOW I HAVE TO GO AND CLEAN UP THE STUDIO...I AM NOT A NEAT WORKER, BUT I DO CLEAN UP WHEN FINISHED. MY MOM WHO WAS A GOURMET COOK ..ALWAYS SAID ' YOU CLEAN UP AS YOU GO'. WELLLLLLLLLL...I CAN'T STOP AND LOSE MY THOUGHTS, BUT I DO CLEAN UP BETWEEN PROJECTS!! SO ITS CLEAN UP TIME! I THINK THERE IS A SONG LIKE THAT FOR THE FIRST GRADERS..BUT WE WON'T DISCUSS THAT RIGHT NOW...

ENJOY WHATEVER PROJECTS YOUR DOING..AND SHARE IT!!!!
CHEERS.

crazy is as crazy does

WELL...LETS SEE..FINISHED 2 MORE BOOKS.. AND FIRST PICTURE IS THE BEGINNING OF A BOX..TIME FOR CHANGE....THE BOOKS ARE COMPOSITION BOOKS RATHER THEN BLACK JOURNALS..BUT FOR SOME REASON SO EASY TO DO BECAUSE I JUST LOOKED AT THE PAPER AND KNEW..NO WALKING AROUND, GOING BACK ETC...AND I REALLY LIKE THEM...WILL DELIVER TO PHX CHILDRENS HOSPITAL NEXT WEEK.

CHECK OUT THE DECOR ON THE FRONT PAGE DRESS....THE FRAME AT THE TOP ( HEAD) IS OPEN SO THEY CAN PUT A PICTURE IN. THE BLACK KNOB WAS A FABRIC EARRING.. DECORATED THE SHOES AND APUT OPAL FACE MOLDS ON THE BACK DRESSES.... THE BIRD BOOK HAS A GLASS BIRD AS THE OPENER ( THANKS KIM)...ANYWAY...FUN.

AND WENT TO PRISON IN DENVER TO ADOPT FLATJACK..A CORGIE..SOOOOOOOO CUTE. HE IS A CHARMER. LITTLE GUY. CALL HIM MY LITTLE PANCAKE!!! THEY TRAIN THEM, 24/7..ALREADY AFTER 2 WEEKS HE SITS WHEN I STOP..WALKS WHEN I WALK. WE BOTH NEED MORE TRAINING THEN THAT SO WE DONT' PICK HIM UP UNTIL MAY 22.
'NO PICTURES ON THE LITTLE GUY SINCE NO CAMERAS ALLOWED IN PRISON..ALONG WITH NO WIGS, HAIR PIECES, JEWELRY, TIGHT CLOTHING ETC ETC...INTERESTING.

SO NOW I HAVE MOM, ABBIE AND LOEKE OUR CATS THAT DONT' GET ALONG AND FLAPJACK..NOT TO MENTION JOHN AND MYSELF...WHO ALSO NEED ATTENTION!
YEP CRAZY IS AS CRAZY DOES!

Well its been a busy couple weeks...but all is well.
sandy made me a doll from her class at Frenzy Stamper..I named her Pearie Francie..cause...I was doing a Pear theme box at the time...so if you look close you will see the Pear inside francie...so now..Pearie Francie will always have something to snack on...

Mom loved her too..and mom is doing well. Told me the other day that if i keep giving her goodies she will get TALL.

And sent along a pictures of some flowers..that have not bloomed for 2 years and this year decided to make up for it...beautiful pink..hope the pictures do it justice.

I have finished the books, and decided to do 2 quick books..which actually i thought looked just as nice as the ones that take a week. I have decided that when i know exactly what I want to do..it just goes...when I am not sure..or I too many ideas..it takes longer..whatever, its fun!!

Now I am going to work on a purse box...bought these went Ink It went out of business..and I found some metal FEET from Tim Holtz in California. Found that Scrapbooks Etc also carries them...so anxious to put this project together.

Mom will be 95 this August..she is amazing..told me today she will buy me a bathroom for my house. she says " judy you gatta get a toilet in here". thats because we tell her to use her potty pants...( we do this because getting her out of the wheelchair and on to the toilet is very hard)
Well mom doesn't want to wet her pants..so I finally told her we had no toilet in this house!!

oh well.
whatever works.
Enjoy..whatever this day brings!

Well besides the MAC class and finishing the 1920's book..I did some painting...I do have a shop..which I seem to forget until its almost empty..so I took the old blue bench I had on the porch and painted it red...still needs to be distressed...but took some pictures of mom
helping out!!

also caught mom reading an Easter card from my brother Ken...probably really sent by my sister-in-law..carolyn..either way..Mom loved it!!!

and I added a couple more pictures of the 1920's book..case you still trying to find the embellishments from the previous post!!

And I wanted to update you on the last book..the clock book. Well I got a battery for the small
clock face..but...when I went to remove the clock to take it to the store...I discovered my design of how to keep the clock fastened..yet able to be removed for future batteries, didn't quite work...pulling the clock..off ...well..took 1/2 the paper with it!!! soooooooo
had to do some serious repairs since the paper is held down with some major METAL binding...
so its in the repair shop!! BUT....lucky for me...it can be repaired without removing the entire front page...

what I find interesting about these 4 books..and the papers chosen..is what my original thoughts were for the embellishments...did not at all..show off the theme..or paper...or I just didn't like them...and the paper I thought would be the hardest to embellish due to either so much activity on the paper..or little activity on the paper..turned out in my estimation to be the most 'eye catching'...and most fun...the clock which I really liked the ideas I had...turned out to be the one I am least satisfied with...and felt I should have been able to do more with...the fact you can
use the clock..its real..and removable..was probably the only hi-light of the embellish features.. althought the metal trim is really sharp.....maybe doing 4 was too much..not sure...any excuse is ok...but not acceptable...but..I am sure those receiving the journals will enjoy them!

And since the clock book is in the repair shop...its not really finished...so...no pictures...and who knows if the repair shop can make some other repairs..we will see......

Well I took MAC class today on how to organize pictures..lets see if I can remember anything!!

The 1920's book had a lot going on the paper itself..but I still found some areas to embellish and high light...like the pearl on her bathing suit...wait...I won't tell...we can play a game and see how many you can find!!! ( and I will have to go back and count them..ha) A clue...one of the embellishments I found at the stamp convention..thats it.

one detail I forgot..and i will add it..is a label on the Bathing Beauties! ( which will be.." bathing beauties'. that was really creative right?!!!

I think these pictures don't really do the book justice since you can"t see the spine and some of the ribbon embellishments but I ended up really enjoying the challenge...and the journal is a hard cover large black journal and not a composition book...that alone makes the journal seem
more solid...

so thank you for your support on these projects for Phx Childrens Hospital!!!
Enjoy.
